Ajuda National Palace - Royal Treasure Museum
A journey into the past of Portuguese royalty
The Royal Palace of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda began to be built in 1796 and was the official residence of the Portuguese royal family until the proclamation of the Republic in 1910.
In addition to the palace, the Royal Treasury Museum, located in the same area, houses one of the most valuable collections of Portuguese crown jewellery and ceremonial gold smithery. Highlights include the 18th century royal table, one of the most imposing in Europe, and other pieces of great historical and artistic importance.
The Ajuda National Palace offers a unique cultural experience. It is a living testimony to Portugal's history and artistic wealth, and a must-see destination for anyone looking to explore the legacy of the Portuguese monarchy.
